Learn Theme

Learn is a popular documentation theme originally developed for GRAV CMS and later ported to Typemill. Ideal for creating structured, text-heavy documentation sites, the Learn theme offers simplicity, functionality, and a familiar layout for users. However, this theme is not activele supported anymore and represents an older version of the original grav theme.

The Learn theme includes several customization options:

  • Theme Colors: Choose from four predefined color schemes to match your branding.
  • Edit Link for GitHub: Enable an "Edit" link in the frontend, directing users to the GitHub repository for collaborative editing.
  • Customizable Chapter Headline: Modify the default "Chapter" label in the navigation.
  • Chapter Numbers: Automatically display chapter numbers in the navigation for clearer structure.

In addition to these theme-specific features, the Learn theme supports many core Typemill capabilities:

  • Search Integration: Use the Typemill Bettersearch plugin and add a full text search.
  • Unlimited Menu Levels: Build deep navigation structures with no level restrictions.
  • Next/Previous Buttons: Automatically add navigation buttons for seamless browsing between chapters.

Limitations

While the Learn theme offers a robust foundation for documentation sites, some features from the original GRAV theme are not included, such as:

  • Multilanguage Support: This port does not include built-in multilanguage functionality.
  • Version Switching: Users cannot toggle between different documentation versions.
  • Navigation Checkmarks: History checkmarks in the navigation are not supported.

The Learn theme is a free option licensed under MIT. Despite not being actively developed for Typemill anymore, the Learn theme remains a dependable choice for creating straightforward, structured documentation sites.
